We were watching TV the other day and I saw this DoubleMySpeed ad talking about how it would clean the registry of errors and any Malware, which should make it faster and run better.

I have actually never used a registry cleaner on any of my computers. So, I thought, “Do these things actually work?”

The 2010 World Series of Poker schedule of events was released on December 17th 2009 which is much earlier than usual. Normally it comes out in March but this early release gives us a peek into what will take place in Las Vegas at the Rio Hotel and Casino from May 27 to July 17. The 41st WSOP will contain 57 events in it like last year with additional changes to the lineup. For one, the $50,000 H.O.R.S.E. event is now known as the Event #2 Player’s Championship with a $50,000 buy in. During the first four days players will participate in eight games known as Limit Hold’em, Omaha Hi-Low Split-8 or Better, Seven Card Razz, Seven Card Stud, Seven Card Stud Hi-Low Split 8 or Better, No Limit Hold’Em, Pot Limit Hold’em and 2-7 Triple Draw Lowball. On the last day when the final table is played, the game will be entirely No Limit Hold’Em which was the game played when Chip Reese won the first $50,000 buy in back in 2006.

Why the renaming change took place is not known at this time, but in December 2009 Harrah’s admitted that the H.O.R.S.E. event is drawing lower and lower numbers each year. Harrah’s had this to say during the Harrah’s New Orleans Bayou Challenge, “Many H.O.R.S.E. tournaments held elsewhere have also experienced declining attendance, which can be explained for at least two reasons. First, H.O.R.S.E. centers largely on Seven-Card Stud-related games (a variant which is clearly in decline). Second, the prestige of H.O.R.S.E. has declined in the last year or so, as ESPN removed the game from its usual WSOP broadcast lineup (one reason — low ratings in 2008). At this year’s WSOP Europe(played in September), H.O.R.S.E. was removed from the lineup after two consecutive years on the schedule, replaced in favor of the more popular game of Pot-Limit Omaha.” Now there are still 3 H.O.R.S.E. events on the new schedule with lower buyins, ranging from $1,500 to $10,000 per player.

One popular No Limit Hold’Em 4-day event played at the 2009 WSOP with a $1,000 ‘recession lowered buy in’, proved to be such a hit that this year a total of 6 with the same low buy in will be presented on the schedule.

The Main Event will be played from Monday July 5th to Saturday July 17th, after which the nine who make the final table will reconvene from November 6 to 9 in order to see who is the newest champion. Another change is that the Pavilion Room that has 58,000 square feet in it will also be used along with the Amazon Room which has 38,000 square feet inside. Registration for the Main Event and others is now available, which was a good move on Harrah’s part as it will help to prevent hundreds of players from being shut out from the tables as in 2009 Main Event Day 1D. And registration for all events will remain open until the start of the third level or until all available seats have been sold out.

In a positive move for the players, gold bracelet events that will begin at 12 noon will max out at 10 one-hour levels. Those that begin at 5 in the evening will stop after a maximum of 8 hours. And like last year, all gold bracelet events will feature triple the buy-in starting chips and deep structures. The Ante Up For Africa tournament will also be held to benefit those in the life and death environment in Darfur and finally, every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday in June there will be 1 day structured $550 No Limit Hold’Em tournaments. These will not be bracelet events, but will allow those who cannot afford the higher buyins to play at the 2010 World Series of Poker.
